Shasthi

2nd September, 2016: It was her Shasthi. The 6th day of her life. On that day, baby is made to bath properly after removing his/her nails. After that an offering is made to goddess shasthi. During dusk of the specific day,  Mama ( maternal uncle) burns Bol pata ( a specific kind of leaf), offers Taga ( black thread) and  gifts a set of dress to the baby in order to ensure safety of the newborn. Goddess Shashti is no one but goddess of fertility. Mother of the new born is not allowed to sleep on that night, because it is believed that on that night, creator lord Brahma comes to write destiny of the child, to it is required to keep a lamp burning throughout the night along with a red pen and paper. In our case, lord krishna, being the maternal uncle performed all rites.
