The Kumari Pujo or Kanjak- Celebrating Womenhood

4th April,2017:  On 3rd April, 2017, She fell down from bed and that made us really concerned .Though after thorough checkup Dr. kapil told, she is fine and no injuries recorded , we were relieved. After a tiresome night, next morning we got up quite late. It was 8th day (Astami) of Basanti Puja or Spring Navratri. There is an  Indian tradition to worship womanhood or Maa Shakti as worship of young baby girls on that auspicious day of spring season. 4-5 families of our colony were waiting in front of our door to worship my 7 month old daughter Pragya, as  their divine mother or kanyaka/ Kumari/ Kanjika. I dressed her up as mother goddess Durga in red baby saree, red  dupatta, golden crown. In first house she was quite nervous, and after that gradually she started enjoying like other young baby girls and  female kids. Her feets were washed with rose water by family heads and kaleva ( a thread of special  religious significance) was tied in her hand. She was welcomed by application of sindoor or vermilion on forehead and worshiped with flower, dhup deepak and arati, fed with delicacies ( though being too young, she only touched :D) and showered with gifts . A lovely experience of being a mom of a cute baby girl from India, where women is Durga, the goddess of strength, enegry, Laxmi, the goddess of wealth and Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge .
